He was born on January 1, 1950, in Indore. His father’s name was Rifatullah Qureshi, and his mother’s name was Maqbool-un-Nisa Begum. He earned a B.A. degree in Urdu from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, an M.A. in Urdu Literature from Awadh University, and a Ph.D. (on Urdu Mushaira) from M.P. Bhoj University. For 16 years, he served as a professor of Urdu literature at I.K. College, Devi Ahilya University, Indore. He was also the editor of the Urdu quarterly magazine Shaakhein for 10 years. Several researchers in Indian and Pakistani universities have completed their Ph.D. degrees on Dr. Rahat Indori's life and works. (उर्दू में मुशायरा) की डिग्री एम.पी. भोज यूनिवर्सिटी से हासिल की। इंदौर स्थित आई.के. कॉलेज, देवी अहिल्या यूनिवर्सिटी में 16 वर्षों तक उर्दू साहित्य के प्रोफ़ेसर के रूप में कार्य किया। इंदौर से प्रकाशित उर्दू तिमाही पत्रिका “शाख़ें” के 10 वर्षों तक सम्पादक रहे। कई भारतीय और पाकिस्तानी विश्वविद्यालयों में डॉ. राहत इंदौरी के जीवन और कृतियों पर शोध करने वाले शोधकर्ताओं ने पीएच.डी. की डिग्री प्राप्त की है। डॉ. राहत इंदौरी की ग़ज़लें महाराष्ट्र राज्य बोर्ड के कक्षा 9 और 11 के उर्दू पाठ्यक्रम में शामिल हैं। Main Zinda Hoon - Rahat Indori Kulliyat Dive into the world of Rahat Indori with "Main Zinda Hoon," a comprehensive Kulliyat (Complete Works) that brings together the finest of his poetic creations.
