Ethics & policies

LJPH follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Core Practices. What follows is the summary; the full text of each policy is on the platform's policies page, and it governs where this summary is silent.

Peer review
Double-anonymous by default. Open review is available when both the author and the reviewer opt in, in which case the reports are published alongside the article. Reviewer identities are never disclosed without consent.
Authorship
Authorship requires substantial contribution, approval of the submitted version, and agreement to be accountable for the work. Changes to the author list after submission require written agreement from every author, including any being removed.
Competing interests
Declared by authors at submission, by reviewers at assignment and by editors at handling. A declared interest is not usually disqualifying; an undeclared one is.
Corrections & retractions
Errors that do not affect conclusions are corrected; those that do are retracted. Retraction notices name the reason and are linked from the original, which stays online and marked rather than disappearing.
Plagiarism
Every submission is screened with iThenticate at desk stage. Similarity is read by an editor, not scored by a threshold — a heavily-cited methods paragraph is not misconduct and a paraphrased introduction may be.
Data & code
Availability statements are required. Where data cannot be shared, the statement must say why, and 'available on request' is accepted only with a named contact who has agreed to be it.
AI-assisted writing
Generative tools may be used for language editing and must be disclosed. They cannot be listed as authors, and authors remain responsible for every claim and every citation in the submitted text.
