Umair Najmi

Umair Najmi (born 1986), whose real name is Muhammad Umair, is a contemporary Pakistani Urdu poet known for his fresh, mature, and emotionally resonant ghazals. Born in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, he studied Architectural Engineering at UET Lahore and began his formal poetic journey in 2014. Umair Najmi's poetry is admired for its clarity, simplicity, emotional depth, and distinctive contemporary sensibility. His ghazals explore love, separation, loneliness, memory, identity, relationships, and the complexities of modern life. At the same time, his poetry often brings together visible and invisible dimensions of human experience, giving familiar emotions a fresh philosophical and imaginative perspective. His poetic influences include some of the most celebrated names in Urdu literature, including Mir Taqi Mir, Mirza Ghalib, Allama Iqbal, Yagana Changezi, Irfan Siddiqui, Shakeb Jalali, Jamal Ehsani, and Jaun Elia. His own poetry, however, is recognised for its individual voice, freshness, and maturity.
