Tasneef Haider

Tasneef Haider (born 1986) is a contemporary Indian Urdu poet, writer, critic, translator, and literary commentator known for his engagement with modern Urdu literature. Born in Vasai, Maharashtra, and associated with Delhi, he represents a younger generation of Urdu writers working across poetry, criticism, fiction, translation, and literary journalism. His literary writing reflects a strong engagement with Urdu's classical tradition as well as contemporary literary thought. His work frequently examines poetry, poets, literary history, culture, and changing social perspectives. He has written extensively on major Urdu literary figures and traditions, bringing an analytical yet accessible approach to literary criticism and commentary. Tasneef Haider is also the publisher of the Urdu literary magazine Awr and runs the YouTube channel Adbi Duniya, through which he engages with literature, poetry, writers, and literary discussions. His articles for Rekhta include writings on Mirza Ghalib, Urdu literary history, literary criticism, and contemporary questions surrounding poetry and society.
