Biography

Nasir Kazmi (1925–1972) was one of the most influential poets of modern Urdu ghazal. Born in Ambala, he later migrated to Lahore, where the experiences of Partition deeply influenced his poetry. Known for his simple yet evocative language, Nasir Kazmi brought themes of love, loneliness, nature, memory, and loss into the modern ghazal. His notable works include Barg-e-Nai, Deewan, Pehli Barish, and Nishat-e-Khwab. He also contributed to Urdu prose and worked with Radio Pakistan.
