Biography

Krishn Bihari ‘Noor’ was a prominent 20th-century Urdu poet and an important voice of the Lucknow School of Poetry. Born in Lucknow in 1926, he completed his graduation from Lucknow University and later worked in the RLO department of Lucknow, retiring as an Assistant Manager in 1984. A disciple of poet Fazal Naqvi, Noor was proficient in both Urdu and Devanagari scripts and became particularly known for his ghazals. His poetry combines emotional depth, lyrical expression and the cultural richness of Lucknow. His notable collections include Dukh-Sukh, Tapasya, Samandar Meri Talash Mein and Tajalli-e-Noor. His poetry continues to be widely read among admirers of classical and contemporary Urdu ghazal.
