Biography

Jamal Ehsani was a prominent Pakistani Urdu poet known for his distinctive contribution to modern Urdu ghazal. Born in Sargodha in 1951, he moved to Karachi at a young age, where he continued his education and worked in different fields. He was associated with the Information and Broadcasting Department of Sindh and also edited several literary publications. His poetry is known for its individual voice, emotional depth and modern sensibility, while retaining the lyrical character of the Urdu ghazal. His poetry collections Sitara-e-Safar, Raat Ke Jaage Hue and Taare Ko Mehtaab Kiya were published during his literary career.
