Biography

Fahmi Badayuni was a celebrated Indian Urdu poet known for expressing profound thoughts and emotions in simple, accessible language. Born in Bisauli, Budaun, in 1952, his real name was Zamaan Sher Khan. He initially worked as a Lekhpal before turning to teaching mathematics and science. He began gaining recognition through mushairas and became one of the most popular contemporary Urdu poets, particularly on social media. His poetry explores love, separation, longing, loneliness and everyday human experiences, often combining emotional depth with fresh perspectives. His distinctive style helped him gain a wide readership in the 21st century. His major poetry collections include Paanchvi Simt, Dastaken Nigaahon Ki and Hijr Ki Dusri Dawa.
