Azra Naqvi

Azra Naqvi is a well-known Indian Urdu poet, short-story writer, columnist and translator. Born in Delhi in 1952, she is an alumna of Aligarh Muslim University and has been associated with Urdu literature for several decades. Her literary work includes ghazals, nazms, short stories, children's literature and literary articles. She is particularly known for translating modern Arabic fiction and non-fiction into Urdu, helping bring contemporary Arabic literature to Urdu readers. Her poetry explores memory, relationships, migration, changing cities and everyday human experiences. She has lived in Canada and the Middle East and is now based in Greater Noida. She is also associated with the Rekhta Foundation.
