Amir Khusrau was a legendary poet, writer, musician and Sufi associated with the Delhi Sultanate. Born in Patiyali in present-day Uttar Pradesh, he wrote primarily in Persian and also composed poetry in Hindavi. He was a devoted disciple of the renowned Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. Khusrau served in the courts of several Delhi Sultans while continuing his literary and musical work. He is regarded by Rekhta as one of the earliest poets associated with Rekhta/Hindvi and is celebrated for his contribution to the development of Indo-Persian literary culture. His writings include ghazals, masnavis, riddles and other poetic works, while his influence on Indian music remains deeply significant.
